Illinois Clean Energy
Did you know Illinois has a diverse electricity generation mix that helps enhance energy reliability?
The state’s energy portfolio is evolving, with wind, solar and other renewables playing an increasing role.
Landmark legislation, including the 2017 Future Energy Jobs Act (FEJA) and the 2021 Climate and Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA), has significantly accelerated renewable energy development and expanded access to its benefits statewide. The 2026 Clean Energy Reliability Grid Act (CRGA) expands on this policy framework by strengthening grid reliability, enabling the integration of energy storage, and advancing a growing portfolio of renewable energy resources as the state advances its RPS goals.
This dashboard allows visitors to compare Illinois’ electricity generation mix over time through high-level metrics and visualizations that track comparisons across different snapshots in time. Visitors can use this dashboard to see the big picture of Illinois’ electricity generation mix while complementing the capacity data captured on the Midwest Clean Energy page, the detailed trends in the Illinois RPS Progress page, and other IPA initiatives highlighted throughout the Clean Energy Dashboard website.
