Illinois Solar for All
The Illinois Solar for All (ILSFA) program brings the benefits of solar energy to income-eligible households, nonprofit organizations, and public facilities to help grow the state’s clean energy economy for all.
The ILSFA program provides incentives to develop new solar projects through contracts to sell Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) generated by participating projects to Illinois utilities and to the State of Illinois. RECs are the environmental attributes associated with the electricity production and are bought and sold separately from the electricity itself.
The program includes both Distributed Generation (DG) projects, which are systems located on-site (at homes or buildings), either on a roof or mounted to the ground, and Community Solar (CS) projects, which allow participants to subscribe to shared, larger solar installations and receive bill credits for their share of energy produced.
Currently, the program has four sub-programs:
Residential Solar (Small)
Residential Solar (Large)
Community Solar
Non-Profit and Public Facilities
Note: The ILSFA program also has projects from a former Low-Income Community Solar (LICS) Pilot sub-program.

Data shown here reflects projects from across ILSFA’s sub-programs that are considered under development or energized (or operational) and is updated monthly. Additionally, active community solar subscription data is also included and updated quarterly. The dashboards provide both a high-level program overview and a more detailed look at Community Solar participation.
