Workforce Equity
Operationalizing equity standards in the clean energy economy is central to the IPA’s work. The IPA has taken significant measures to ensure clean energy companies participating in IPA programs and procurements are meeting minimum equity requirements and supporting Equity Eligible Contractors (EECs) and Equity Eligible Persons (EEPs). Through the implementation of the Equity Accountability System, the growth of the Energy Workforce Equity Portal (Equity Portal), and other equity-focused initiatives, the IPA continues to place equity at the center of its efforts to grow Illinois’ clean energy economy.
Building on these efforts, the Energy Workforce Equity Portal serves as a key public-facing tool designed to translate equity standards into direct connections and opportunities across the clean energy sector. The Equity Portal helps clean energy companies post jobs, search for EEPs seeking employment in the state’s clean energy sector, and certify existing employees as EEPs. It also helps individuals determine whether they qualify as EEPs, connect with prospective employers, and access job opportunities, workforce training programs, and related resources. In addition, the Equity Portal’s Small and Emerging Business Hub provides businesses with resources to help them navigate Illinois’ solar market.
